FEATURES OF A HIGH-QUALITY GUNSMITH TOOLBOX
Your armory is an investment, so maintaining it correctly is important. A professional-grade gun maintenance toolbox can mean the difference between adequate and inadequate gun maintenance. A gun toolbox can be small enough to be portable, and you can add casters to your unit to make it easier to roll around your workshop or garage. We also offer larger workbenches and tool chests with wall cabinets, drawers, and horizontal work space for cleaning and maintenance of firearms. With the workbench top being 14 gauge 304 stainless steel with wood underneath it is sturdy enough to mount a re-loader or vice to it. You can also start small with a basic unit and add to it later with more cabinets and drawers if desired.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A GOOD WORKBENCH FOR GUNSMITHING
Those with sufficient floor space will appreciate having a full-size gun cleaning workbench that can hold all firearms, gear, and accessories within arm’s reach while you’re working with them. The best gun workbench will have features such as:
- Industrial-strength drawers in both skinny and deep sizes
- Easy-slide drawers made of 18-gauge galvanized stainless steel that will hold the heaviest gear
- Drawers that open completely for full access to their contents
- Roomy cabinets with adjustable shelves
- Locks for both drawers and cabinets
- A 14-gauge stainless steel top for gun cleaning and maintenance
- Electrical outlets and USB ports
- Powder-coat finish for added durability
- Matching cabinet and drawer units to customize and expand your gun cleaning workbench
The stainless-steel top on each of our units is plenty strong enough to support a gun vise. Anti-slip drawer liners also add more functionality. And our products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty, which just shows how confident we are about the reliability and performance of each workbench and toolbox we sell.
Gunsmith Workbench FAQ
What's the difference between a gun workbench and a regular workbench?
A gun workbench is purpose-built for gunsmithing: stainless or steel top, lockable drawers, integrated cleaning containment, and drawer configurations sized for receivers, barrels, and small parts. A regular workbench will hold up for occasional gun work but lacks the security, drawer ergonomics, and surface durability gunsmiths need daily.
Are Dragonfire workbenches FFL-friendly?
Yes. Every drawer and cabinet locks. The wall and locker cabinets share the same lock keying. While no workbench replaces a proper safe, our lockable storage meets the working-storage practices most FFLs use for parts, customer firearms in process, and consumables.
Can I customize the drawers for gunsmithing-specific tools?
Yes. Our drawer system is fully swappable.
What finish options are available?
Workbenches come in Dark Gray (standard) or limited-run Black. Wall and locker cabinets come in Gunmetal Grey or Gloss Black powder-coated.
Do you ship to FFL addresses or commercial shops?
Yes. We ship workbenches and cabinets via freight to commercial and residential addresses. Shipping is calculated at checkout and we coordinate delivery with you directly for shop installations.
How do Dragonfire benches compare to Snap-On for gunsmithing?
Comparable build quality at materially better pricing because we sell direct rather than through tool trucks. Where Snap-On sells closed and proprietary configurations, our system is open and modular. You can reconfigure drawers and add matching cabinets as your shop grows.
Are the workbench tops really stainless steel?
Yes. Every Dragonfire workbench top is 14-gauge 304 stainless steel with a wood backing for vibration dampening and rigidity under vise mounting. The stainless cleans up with brake cleaner and won't dent, warp, or absorb solvents over time.
